Iowa decided in 2007 to implement Authentic Intellectual Work as a statewide initiative. Three years later we have moved from just under 100 teachers to over 1,000 (9 schools to 33 schools). In addition to the growing numbers, new innovations have begun to occur.
One of the coaches just passed along this great innovation:
I just got the word from the three superintendents in southwest Iowa that they are going to have at least three full days of AIW together so that content area teachers can score together. They are very excited about providing this opportunity for staff and took the initiative to calendar common full day Professional Development days. It is very exciting that they are so committed to AIW that they are willing to calendar these dates to support the work. They may add a fourth full day.
Just sharing the good news.
The superintendents involved are:
Chris Herrick at Fremont Mills
Gregg Cruickshank at Sidney
Curt Barclay at East Mills
